Exploring Egypt — My 4th Wonder of the World

Egypt was an unforgettable adventure. If I’m being completely honest, I didn’t love the overall experience — but seeing the Pyramids? That moment was chilling and absolutely surreal. It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime sights I believe everyone should experience at least once.

Would I return? Maybe — but only to take a Nile cruise & see Al- Sahaba Mosque (still on my list!). We spent just two days (one night in Giza & Cairo, and honestly, that was more than enough for me. But if you’re planning a trip, here’s a quick guide based on what I learned:

                       Where to Stay

Marriott Mena House
Located right at the base of the Pyramids, the view is truly perfect . Waking up with one of the Seven Wonders of the World outside your window? Unreal. That said, the hotel itself didn’t quite live up to expectations. I’d recommend staying one night just for the view, then switching to another spot.

Fairmont Nile City
This is where Cairo’s hospitality really shines. From the incredible service to the delicious food (the Egyptian breakfast was a favorite), the Fairmont delivered on every level. Beautiful Nile views, modern amenities — Fairmont never disappoints.

My #1 Tip: Hire a Guide for the Pyramids
If you take anything away from this post, let it be this: do not visit the Pyramids or the Sphinx without a guide. We went once with a guide and once without (had to go back early morning for some photos, of course), and the difference was huge. Without a guide, it felt chaotic and overwhelming. With one, we got historical insights, protection from tourist traps, and a much more enjoyable experience. It’s worth every penny!
